IA. They have 2 sons, Benjamin and Andrew. They live in Rochester, MN. Richard  married Kristi Lien from rural Decorah. They have 2 children, Matthew and Megan. They live in Sioux Falls, SD. Stan, Brad and Rich all attended Luther College.

Robert and Marius lived a short time near Castalia where Robert had a milk route and delivered milk in cans to the Carnation Milk Plant in Castalia. Robert also was a general trucker. In 1950 they moved to Decorah where Robert was the parts man in the Ford garage. From Decorah Robert and Marius moved to the former Knute Solheim farm in Bloomfield Twp. Robert farmed for 10 years and then rented out the crop land, but continued to milk cows for 22 years. He became a carpenter, specializing in remodeling homes and installing new kitchen and bathroom cabinets; he continued carpentering for 31 years. Marius was a secretary in the career planning and placement/counseling office at Luther College, a position she held for 11 years. Marius enjoys returning to Luther at the beginning of spring and fall terms to help in the book store. After retiring from Luther, Marius worked in the Northeast Iowa Refugee Agency, located in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Decorah.

Robert, Marius and sons attended the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia. Robert has served on the church council as secretary and deacon. Marius is a member of the Women’s Organization (WELCA) and a Circle. She has taught Sunday and Bible Schools and served as the Superintendent.

Robert and Marius have been members of the Bloomfield Twp. Historical Society for 32 years. Robert is the Bloomfield Twp. Clerk and a member of the Cemetery Board. They enjoy retirement, traveling and visiting their families and friends.

Brandt, Roland and Daisy (Amundson)

Roland J. Brandt was born 21 Jul 1894 to Mr. & Mrs. Fred Brandt, Postville, IA farmers. He received his education in the Postville school graduating in 1912 and the School of Mortuary Science in Des Moines in 1928. Roland had 3 sisters and 2 brothers: Lora Plaht, Postville; Clara (m. Earl Haefner) Prescott, AZ; Delia (m. Irvin Meyer)

McGregor, IA; and Harlan and Ewold who both farmed the home farm near Postville.

Roland married Daisy Amundson 27 Nov 1928. Daisy (twin of Violet Amundson) was born 1 Apr 1900 at Kerkhoven, MN to Albert and Josephine Amundson.

Daisy attended rural school at Kerkhoven and was confirmed at the Kerkhoven Lutheran Church by Rev. E.R. Wicks in 1916, the first class to be confirmed in English. Daisy worked in her father's millinery store for a while and later at Bradshaw’s in Minneapolis where they made pattern hats—very exclusive—one of a kind hats. She was sent to Decorah to work at Barge and McNeils Dress Shop. A year or two later her twin sister Violet joined her in Decorah and they purchased the store which was later called the Priscilla Shop.

Roland and Daisy lived in Decorah where they were co-owners of Bench and Brandt Furniture Store for 46 years. Roland was also a funeral director, operating the Brandt Funeral Home from their home on West Broadway.

During the last 28 years of his life Roland's farming operations were known to be one of the largest and most prominent in Winneshiek Co. Three of his farms were engaged in dairy production and the other was a beef farm

Roland was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Odd Fellows, Elks, Oneota Country Club, Chamber of Commerce, and was district chairman of the National Federation of Independent Businesses headquartered in Washington, DC. He was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church where he ushered, taught Sunday School and was on the Counting Committee.

Roland died 8 Sep 1971. Daisy died 21 Nov 1975 after being hit by a car as she was crossing the street at Broadway and Mechanic Streets near her home. Both Roland and Daisy are buried at the Lutheran Cemetery.

Daisy’s estate, aside from her personal effects, was divided into 5 equal portions with 3 portions willed to relatives. One portion was given to Decorah Lutheran Church where she had been an active member, serving as president of the Women’s Guild, as well as teaching a Sunday School class. The remaining portion was shared by Senior Citizens, the Public Library, the Decorah Park System, several youth organizations (including the Decorah
